  • How's this for a new kind of drag race event?

The CarJunkieTV.com Drag-a-Thon or Drag Enduro. Needs a good name.

    - Open to all comers. Doorslammers only.
    - Test and tune, tech inspection, and qualifying on Saturday.
    - The quickest 100 cars race on sunday. ET cutoff of, say, 12.50 to eliminate rental cars.
    - On race day, lanes open at 10 am and close at 5 pm. It's all-run all day. The goal is to make as many laps as you can. Any oildown is a DQ. At the end of the day, you take the top 5 cars with the most laps and the one with the lowest average et wins. Prizes for best single pass, most consistent car, most laps overall, and best average reaction time. It would be easy to make more przes, too, like quickest Mopar, Buick, Pontiac, etc.

It needs some polish, but would it be cool? I was thinking it would be a neat way to have nonstop action in a format that's super easy to run and it would reward the fastest, most reliable cars.

If we did it, would you come?

Sounds like a winner, what tracks are being considered?

          12.50's?

I have some work to do..........but all depending on the timeframe(and location), it could be fun!

So it would sort be like Drag Day instead of Drag Week?

My Bad. I'll go sit in the corner.

Where is just as important as when. Sounds like fun though.

sounds cool, my personal record was 28 passes in 5 hrs all in the mid 11s. the next day my clutch leg hurt! we had one difference ,I had to climb up a flight of steps to get the slip from the tower. Track rentals at Beaver Springs rock!

Sounds great, now if only it was in my backyard, not yours.

I actually did something like this once. I drove 5 hours (w/ 4.11's and no O/D) on the NYS thruway to a track and made 34 passes in about 8 hours. It was all heads up, and just for fun. I lost 4 races. I set lowest reaction time too (.502) No breakage at the time but I did lose the trans 2 weeks later.

Sounds fun. The location is going to be the thing for most to consider.

Hmmmm.....need a track that is consistant ....and has a large pit area and no noise restrictions....FAMOSO RACEWAY...fits the bill perfectly...Blake and John Bowser have plenty of open dates too.....a legendary event deserves a legendary track !

How about a East coast venue too. Then the top cars could meet in the midwest and battle it out.

How about Milan, MI or Norwalk, OH? Would be great for exposure and they are both good tracks....

                              Good Idea.
