    Mine, all mine....

This is where I am moving to, and going to build my shops, a small house, and then continue with my car projects without worrying that I have to be forced out at any time.

Its a good feeling to no longer be homeless and or dependent on someone else. Everything between the highway and the bottom of the pic is MINE! w00t!

This is where I have been for 8 years, it looks like a hurricane dumped a bunch of boats in the back. The good thing about not buying this place is I dont have to deal with the boats, nor do I have to fix the shortcomings and poor workmanship in the house. I can do it my way rather than trying to fix the screw up someone else did to get by.

    FANTASTIC!

I'm sure you'll give us all an education on how to build a house and shop - I'm looking forward to following along!
There's always something new to learn.

Never done it before, well put up barns and garages, but not a house or something of the magnitude I plan on. Five years ago I hadnt done a frame off resto either.... Might as well learn how to do it, and do it my way.

you are living a dream. I was part of very small crews building houses, garages, restores (new England and restore is like unlocking glacial diseases).... You can do anything you want, but I'd mention lumber.. go rough cut framing, and think modular. No locking pipes or wires anywhere in the design. Biggest screw up since the dawn of houses. More pigs than builders.. I'll stop there.

Cool Beans!!! Hope this continues to work for you.

City sewer and water? It looks pretty rural but you never know. Lots of details to sew together. I'm not sure it's code in the UP to build a house out of welded sheet metal and body filler.......

Think simple, small, efficient, and easy to put up and maintain. Lots of options, but the shops will be pole barns covered with steel, one will have a two story apartment in it where I will live until its all done. Bedroom upstairs, living space below that I can make into an office/man cave later.

Its 12 miles from the nearest town, that means septic system, a well, and rural power. I want to do my green energy stuff in it so heating isnt that expensive. The house will be small, maybe 25' square with a loft. Dont need much space really, and its easier to heat in winter. Its just me and the dogs, maybe one of my kids staying for the summer, so I would only need a place to have friends over and impress the ladies. Its very doubtful that anyone will ever get to live with me again,
so why plan for more space?

Have been toying with the idea of using the trees I clear to build, lots of spruce, white, red and jack pines here, so really I could use them. Some will go to fence posts to keep the dogs in, but there are more than enough to build something with them.

My way or the highway is exactly how it is. After the crap my ex wives put me through "Aint nobody got time for that!"

Congrats man, it's always nice to have land of your own. Here's a pic of the house my dad and I built up near ShowLow, AZ, we got 40 acres up there.

Congrats on closing, that is one of the more stressful moments of ownership... if you got out of there (bank) without anyone pressing charges, you did good!

do yourself a favor and put in a basement..
good luck.. might be worth looking into a modular home and then build the shop..
as modular are not to costly..

buy a repossessed manufactured home.... you can't buy the materials for the cost of purchase and siting an used manufactured home

My first job as an attorney was doing the paperwork for repossessions of MHs - a $120,000 new-home would sell for 20-30k (sometimes way less than that), triple that price to get sewer and water and you' have about the material cost to build a stick-built home....
