I have a friend that's autistic. I've only known him since highschool, so don't know any of the earlier challenges, but he did fine in college. We treated him as one of the guys and he acted like it. Awesome memory. He'd be sitting there eating dinner, then just start cracking up laughing. We'd ask what's so funny and he'd tell us a story from 8 years ago. He didn't handle stressful situations well and you had to be very clear with what you wanted him to do, but there are a few non-autistic people who have the same characteristics, minus the memory.
