  • Looking for a motor building class.

I'm hoping to find someone who is offering a high performance engine building class. There was BadAss Cars who use to have classes but their website has been inactive for some time. It also says they are moving to a new shop which has been up for at least a year. I also remembered that Reher and Morrison said they use to but it no longer appears on their website. I know there is Wyotech and SAM but those are full college course/study. I'm looking for an intense week long program with performance as the main topic. Any help or direction would be great.

I'm self taught for the most part using my experience working in auto salvage & being a Machinist for 12yrs.
Got a junk motor laying around? Take it apart, that helps a lot, practice without worry..

Books help, my 1st engine book was 'How To Hot Rod Big Block Chevys', 1st edition from the 70's.
Still have it & I've read it so much it's falling apart!

When I needed VW motor help I asked STINEY TONS of questions..
But I also bought Tom Wilson's 'How To Rebuild Your Volkswagen Aircooled Motor'.
Great book for newb's like me who are getting into aircooled VDubs.

There are some engine builders here on Bangshift you can learn a thing or two from.

Find those machine shops in your area that specialize in racing engines. Ask for an internship, sweep floors, whatever to learn more. Employers are still looking for people willing to learn and grow. A bit of advice from seeing my shop owning friend take calls from young kids, humble will get you farther than bragging. If you have a car you have built, bring it with you.
