        Usually populated by wind powered cars there..
        There were a few land speed record attempts there as well.. Not very well publicized..
        That area of OR is very sparsely populated..

          What kind of wheels do they run at those speeds?

            Depends, but they're often solid aluminum discs - or so I've read. The Speed Demon car runs LSR tires but I forget the maker. Conventional-looking rubber but no doubt highly engineered, on billet wheels.

              Yeah, wheels is great question, but tires...

              I think tomorrow I'll go into the Cleveland Tire Store and ask for a tire that is rated for 800 miles per hour (the next attempt they mention in that story), just to see what they say.

                I kinda suspected a solid wheel with a solid 'rubber band' to protect the metal wheel........let us know the rating on those tires will ya Pdub??
