Well, the "non-FDA approved" surgery that my specialist wanted to try, failed just like he thought it would. Now we have to schedule a time this week to take all of this gadgetry out of my body, and get rid of these battery packs I have been carrying around. Just a note, if you ever have to get these for a back or neck injury, make sure you know which way the dial goes to turn them up or down. I have four batteries that I have to turn down and then back up to the point of almost being in pain to try and get the maximum effect. The one that they had hooked to my bladder was thumping pretty good, so I reached down to just turn it down for a while and accidently turned it the wrong way. Besides about pissing myself, it felt like my whole abdomen was in a blender. Ugh. Righty tighty, lefty loosey.
And proof that Doctors do not have any sense of humor, when I went in for the surgery they told me they were going to have to roll me over face down, and then bring me in and out of consciousness to make sure stuff was working. After the last time of being asked questions, the Dr said, o.k., we're done, we just have to get you all connected and cleaned up. The nurse had put a big piece of tape on my back to hold some of the temporary cables in place, and when she yanked it off, she took a big patch of back fur with her, and as she did it I kind of half screeched out "Kelly Clarkson!!" like the guy from 40 year old virgin. The only one who got it was the anesthesiologist, the rest of the Drs and nurses were looking at me like WTF does that mean. Medical professionals....Nitrous is like that hot chick with crabs. you want to hit it, you're just afraid of the consequences

The only one who got it was the anesthesiologist, the rest of the Drs and nurses were looking at me like WTF does that mean. Nik at least you and he have a sense of humour in such a difficult situation.That helps a lot! Hang in there.Comment

Well Nik we've never meet but I have followed your post here and I assume your and old guy like me. It would have been nice to hang out, but alas that wasn't possible. I'm sorry that the surgery didn't work out. What ever time you have hopefully it will be pain free, but in any case live this time with the same gusto that you had in better times. Wish there was more I could do or say, but I'll keep you in my prayers and thoughts.....Long Haul Gang 2011,12,13,14,15,16,17,19

keep your head up.. that's 99% of getting through stuff..
prayers for you.. do what you can.. and don't think of the worse.. I know it's not easy.. I had a hell of a time with it..
you're stronger than it.. remember that.. don't let it win.. fight it every step.. make the best of everything.. no matter how small..
