  • 98ciHemi Walt is moving out on his own. Time for advice.

I am sure his parents are trying to give him all kinds of advice as Walt takes another step towards maturity. I bet his mom is telling him to always wear clean underwear just in case he ever in an accident, for her sake. His dad telling not to BBQ in the living room not matter how cold it is outside.

I remember my father telling me never to cook bacon naked. Could be painful. One other cooking tip I have learned was not throw frost covered frozen french fries into a pot of hot oil. Especially when naked.

Who else has great advice for our young friend as he grows into manhood?

Liquor before beer and you are in the clear.

Beer before liquor all the sicker.

And 90% of your hangover is from the sugar content.

You can never have too many forks in the utensil drawer.

Never walk around naked, neighbors don't like to see it, and somebody ALWAYS ring the doorbell when you are..

Pay your bills on time. Coming home from work to find an eviction notice/ utilities turned off really sucks. If you rent, get renter's insurance, it's relatively cheap. Living on your own can be real easy as long as your responsible and keep on top of things. Good luck!

Go to parties at other peoples places, don't throw em at your place. Cleaning up is a @#$%! when you're hung over.

I've answered the door in a towel several times, those bicycle Mormon dudes didn't take it as well as the old ladies from the Baptist Church. None of them wanted a beer. Huh.

No band members as roommates - unless you play something too. No sleep will be had but it's easier to meet chicks.

the lady police officer who beats on your door at midnight probably won't like being called a chic.

Yes, but only half a long.

But seriously. I KNOW Walt. He's a smart, sharp, thoughtful young man doing those things a young guy should do. I've met his folks and they're a bit of OK too. I'm not worried.

Walt - I'll just encourage you to enjoy and remember this time of transition and new beginnings. It's easy to get caught up in the day-to-day and sort of miss recording it in the camera of your mind.

                              I know - I sound like a Grandpa, which I am.
