exactly - and I've gotten a lot better deals on cars when there's room above zero to negotiate. Example - the Land Rover I just bought. I looked at another that was pretty much the same vehicle and he wanted 2500 for it.... wouldn't move an inch on the price because he knew where he was in the market. The one I bought was listed for 5500, and I bought it for 1700 because I educated the guy that his vehicle wasn't worth what he was asking and told him exactly why - then explained about what price point I was willing to be at to buy the car.... because I was nice about it, he sold it to me.... That C3, still needs a lot of expensive parts, but you could still knock him down 1k minimum and 3k if you catch him in a good mood - the 2500 one? probably not because he thinks he's cheap.

If you follow Corvette prices...they follow a pattern, when the C5 and C6 's were out, the C3's were cheap and C4's dropped at the same time. Today a decent C3 cost more than 5-6 years ago. I bought a '69 in 1984 right after the C4's appeared, a L48 auto but pretty well loaded for $3500, nice dirver and enjoyed it for 14 years. 1 owner with clean frame and birdcage, and no pervious body damage. Sold it $13,000 in '98. Just bought a 1 owner '73 convertible this past May, clean, low option 350/auto...like P.S. and hardtop only. No PB, no air, PW, T&T just a driver. Fun, easy to work on and reliable so I can spend all my time and $ on other projects. Like every car brand you have numbers matching purists, guys who improve the original (like SBG), racers, cruisers (me) and the mid life crisisers (blech :-). Bottom line, it is all good. If you see a clean one you like, do it, if not walk on by....there are always more.

THIS ^^^ idea has merit. I LIKE the road-warrior vibe it has going.....don't need or want another car to polish.

I highly doubt they will accept my offer though.

That vette looks pretty rough but it could be fun. I don't fit too well in those cars. On the other hand if I had the extra money I would buy that malibu tardis posted.it has every part I need to make my malibu nice.

Also, I'm starting to get a little tired about people throwing rocks about other people's cars when if I said the same crap about their ride - they'd be upset. And by people, I'm talking about you... this is bangshift, , we buy crap cars and make them into cool (crap) cars - we don't rag on someone else for what they like.

Or would you rather we said the same stuff about your ride? I respect what you've done with your budget and that you like the car. Personally - it's a big car and not my style...
I haven't bagged on anyone's car. My comment was on that particular car. If Stiney buys it that's his decision to make for his skill set and finance allotment for the project. In fact I make a point to follow several project threads whether I comment on them or not. I may have made a couple small jabs at you in your project threads and if something I said offended you I am truly sorry for that because I never intended to offend. Your projects are some that I purposely follow, all the way back to the GTO and all the trouble you had with the dealer. I never jumped in with a comment when you and JeffMcKC or DG or even PeeWee had words. I'm sorry your feelings got hurt because my wife thinks those cars look like pooper scoopers. As for ragging on my ride, you did, if not my ride then me, in my thread about what oil I choose to run. Did I make a federal case about it? To each is own, accept it. That's what lawyers want everyone else to do but don't want to live by those standards themselves. Do you not live in a glass house Aaron?

Do you really think I NEED someone to tell me my wagon is piece of shit. I'm the god damn fool that has continued to throw money at it and work on it until the wee hours of the morning until there's frost on everything around me not on one night in one year but one many nights over the course of two or three years. Do you think I cannot see the surface rust on the thing. Do you think I cannot add the total amount of parts receipts to see how much money is sitting there and not being used? You think a smiley face makes it all good when you throw a jab? My car is big and not your style? WTF is your Buick? SOS different year. Maybe your Buick isn't my style. Do you think I haven't kept up with its progress just to see how things are coming along? Do I need to pat you on the back every time I look so you know I've been there?

If you want me to accept your opinions without compliant, as I have for more years than I have been a member, then I expect the same courtesy from you.

That'd be cool, along with a dana 60 center section... the 10 bolts are pretty weak compared to what's out there today

I had 882s on the blower motor that was in my Skylark - they worked pretty well, but I'd changed the valves to 2.02 and 1.625s and did some minor cleanup on the ports.

Of course, now, I'd absolutely never use those heads - but at the time, you used what was available (I built the motor in the mid-90s)

I know this story well - my Skylark, had it had Chevelle badges, would have sold for 3x what I sold it for.

one really knows when that hi compression is running. Good stuff, even today. Needs a good body for sure.
