  • BangShift Nationals

I've been thinking about this for years now, why doesn't BS have a yearly event of some sort. I know the YellowBullet has the YellowBullet Nationals, and I think the HAMB has some sort of event to, so it would only make since that BS has an event of their own to.

So who would be up for this? I wouldn't mind whipping up on a few forum members at the track.

    I think it's a helluva idea.

Drag racing, car show, swap meet, autocross, bikini contest, live music...

    Where and when?
It's really no different than trying to glue them back on after she has her way.

edit: I am gonna throw the idea out that TULSA would be a great place for it.

Ya somewhere in the middle of the country would be great. That way it's equal driving for the guys on the east and west coasts. I just think it would be one hell of a time.

Tulsa would be good, but if they wanted a very nice smaller track (read: possibly more affordable to rent) that has teeth, my vote would be for Thunder Valley in Noble, OK, just South of OKC. Great facility.

Ardmore (OK) would probably be cheap, too.

            I like MoKan, too.

Or maybe Amarillo . . . or Great Bend, KS (both historic tracks that ought to be fairly cheap)

Of course, the great thing about Tulsa is that BS could have a day at Hallett, too. http://www.hallettracing.net/

A double-header at Decatur, TX and one of the Texas 1/8 tracks (Denton?) might also work.

I don't think CHEAP should weigh heavily on the decision of location. I agree Thunder Valley is also a good choice. Both Tulsa and Noble hook HARD, so the racers would be happy. However.... neither location lends itself to any kind of an autocross format.

              Hmmm....

              1. Central location with access to hotels/motels for participants and spectators.
              2. Plenty of pavement for race car and show car parking.
              3. Good hooking track (could be either 1/8 or 1/4 mile)
              4. Room for an autocross
              5. Cost effective

Speedy mentioned Great Bend and it would fit this criteria fairly well (might be difficult to find lodging in Great Bend for a big event).

              Any other track suggestions?

How about Coastal Plains in Jacksonville, NC? Nice 1/8 mile track and a little bull pen circle track (not sure of the length).

True confessions: It would just be easy for me - probably not centrally located.

It'll be cool to see where this idea goes.

good idea, I'd be interested, I'm thinking we'd need to raise awareness outside of the BS Forum also.

My tee-shirts get plenty soaked (with perspiration) under my SFI jacket . . . although that's probably not what anyone had in mind . . . .

Thus, I respectfully submit that the Goodguys folks have done very well with their events without arguably sexist, exploitive, un-family-friendly stuff such as "wet t-shirt contests."

We have wet t-shirt contests at our local carshow. We soak shirts, then tie them in knots and freeze them. Kids sign up to race in getting them thawed enough to untie and put on. Great, clean fun!
