I thought of trucking when I was a kid, a 318 or a 350 cummins, or even a 290 getting old. A 290 getting old is a broken odemeter at 1.5 million. Teamed up with several other rigs loaded same employer was the only way to go for the given route.
anyway, 60s mph on the level ground, crawling if at 80000 in the hills...and the hills could be as simple as massachusetts 3-4 lane highway. I used to think they had so much power..
it was funny how they ended up at the same torturous crawl but with unique sounds to give a signature.
