Just wait until it happens here, I'm sure sooner or later someone will make Chad and Brian an offer they can't refuse.

I popped in and out there for a few years...not my kind of joint...The guy who sold it seems to be unpopular at the moment...I hope he made a few bucks...I read that the sites estimated worth was 33K or so...this is a bad economy..money talks...

Some of the posts imply well into six figure territory.
        Escaped on a technicality.

The sites I have been a part of that sold to autoguide went rapidly downill and then only marginally recovered because the members felt betrayed by the original owner. Not to mention all the additional advertising the seems to go along with it that sucks bandwidth and generally irritates people.

My understanding is that Monte does well for himself without the bullet. So to put some money in your pocket AND lose what has to be a giant pain in the ass.....good work!

I wonder if those guys fathom what could happen the first time the whole membership gets good and pissed and decides to socially engineer a denial of service attack with not just them but their sponsor-vertisers?

sad day, really. I figure it was well over 100k... otherwise, why bother selling it?

somebody mentioned over 3000 members viewing the thread... in it's short, what, 4 hour existence? Yikes.

I'm not a member (that I can remember), stay out of TOBT for the most part, but I've been in the tech section a LOT. Hope they don't get that trashed.

You mopes just don't get "it." "They" bought YB -- the Internet's automotive suppository (and cultural repository of brotherly kindness and elegant social etiquette) -- so "they" could ensure that the "secret" about "Street Outlaws" never gets out . . . .

Steve's Nova Site sold out several years ago when I was over there.

Lots of members were pissed.........they never allowed advertising (never understood that).
Steve would take Paypal donations to keep site running.

After new ownership everything pretty much stayed the same........with the exception
of new advertisers......which I though was ok.
Several mods got changed but other than that still a good forum and still growing.

                        It's not personal.......just business.

Or is it time for a dozen popup ads a minute at YB to "monetize" the new acquisition?

I'm thinking the SIM Cube Hivers and the "suits" who run HRM probably won't EVER open the HRM forum up for the sort of unregulated, "anything goes" "free speech" spectacle (Politics, Porn, Preaching, Potty-mouthing) that is YB . . . .
