are the rules dead set against it? could it happen? is it possible?
i know of "two" pro mod A/Fuel cars being built...
could a 10.5 car be far behind?
    just think of the implications...................
would it be time to hide your turbos?

They could run ADRL races with them, so there is a venue, but man, that would be a hell of a show.

there is a nitro shortage, just like there is a gas shortage.

Is it true that the NHRA supplier of nitro gets theirs from China?

            Ok, stupid question, off topic:

What ELSE is nitromethane used for other than as a fuel for racing?
Whiskey for my men ... and beer for their horses!

it is used widely in the manufacture of pharmaceuticals, pesticides, explosives, fibers, and coatings. It is also used as a racing fuel.

                Spidey...you know better.

VP's crapping their pants because THEY can't get it. Meanwhile, Don Schumacher has a literal stockpile, but he's not the "official" supplier so no one in the NHRA can burn it.

Match race fuel altereds, nostalgia floppers and fuelers, nitro burning drag boats...and on and on...aren't having a problem.

                    Ha....

Just read that IHRA racers are paying 900 bucks a 53 gallon drum of pop.

NHRA racers (locked into VP) is paying 2000 per 44 gallon drum.

                        Re: 10.5 nitromethane car

                        Short story:

NHRA racers HAVE to buy fuel from VP as they are the official supplier. VP screwed the pooch and did not have enough inventory to cover a plant shut down in China imposed by the Chinese gov't where the nitro is made.

IHRA racers were saved by a fellow racer who bought several container loads of fuel (enough to supply IHRA's smaller car and event count through the rest of the season). It's being sold for the cost of purcahse because it's a racer supplying racers....good deal.

The "big show" has enough fuel to get them through Indy with everyone being supplied (but NHRA has banned testing with nitro on Mondays after races to conserve supply also teams now warm their cars on alky in the pits to save pop).

I have a couple of calls in to confirm the 53 gallon IHRA barrel size because dept of homeland security regs have dropped the allowable quantity (b/c of weight) per barrell to 44 gallons. If those were "old" barrels of fuel, then they would not have to meet the spec, but if the stuff was bottled recently they would also be 44 gallon drums. This reg is designed to reduce the likely hood someone would use nitro to make a bomb (Oklahoma city).

                        Did I say short story?!

                          Re: 10.5 nitromethane car

The knee jerk reaction to run 1,000' helps stretch the fuel also!!! Back on topic... I would love to see a nitro 10.5 car but I doubt that it would ever happen simpley because the cars that are running now are making more power than they can use. The key to getting the cars down the track is finding a way to apply as much power as you can as quickly as you can with out killing the tires! I think nitro would just make getting a car to work even harder.
