Obviously it was a rock crawler set up that failed miserably!

nope, the list shows which ones had X frames. I don't know about the 63-64 caddys, they might have had different models that used different frames.

Go look under a 61-64 pontiac, tell me where the X is

It is not a nailhead engine, nor a TH400 trans.

Not a poncho either, by the shape of the block where the ends of the manifold sit, they have a curved surface for the valley pan.

it looks like a sbc to me? it has the same port layout, inline valves, same bell housing pattern and what looks like a heat cross over in the head. Except the manifold to block mounting looks to be a little different? anybody ever conclusively say what the motor is?

Regardless what it is? This is a great thread guys. I really enjoy this stuff. Looking at the valley, I don't think Pontiac or Chevy. I'll "guess" Caddy

wonder if it's a W motor? oh...nope, wrong angle for the deck....

Not an early caddy either, they have a big "box" that encloses the pushrod area on the block, and use a valley pan.

I don't know. As shitty as that picture is, that looks like a really big valley for a SBC

So does ford have an X-framed car?

Anyone have a picture of a SBC with no intake or heads and a powerglide attached? Then fuzzy it up a bit?
                        Escaped on a technicality.

I have a 283 block that I can put one head one (like in the pic), but the powerglide is in pieces and I'm a long ways away from the beach.

Hey squirrel, that tranny looks awful big/long also. I wonder if that's a clue for someone? I wonder if the original guy who posted KNOWS the answer?

the ports are wrong for an FE, they are like a 302 right?

I blew the picture up and flipped it over, it looks just like a sbc when the image is flipped?

Not only do the ports look right, but it looks like the intake end rails have that slight s shape that chevy's have.
We need software like that have on CSI where you can blow the picture up and clean the image well enough to get a casting number off of it.
I've looked everywhere, but I can't seem to get such software. You probably have to be a hip scientist to get that type of thing.
