I can only "guess" that after 41 yrs it needed "detailing" and what you see is the result of that. Just a guess. (or it's all bullshit, and it's a higher mileage car-never know for sure). This is the presentation when my buddy bought it at a Mecum auction

If you are going to do much engine work, pull the fan shroud and fan, then just stand in there. Those sharp fender tops and the engine set back will be hard on the ole intestines.

Today the folks in one department at the mill held a retirement party for a well known and liked long-time guy. Retirement parties mean retired guys show up, too.

I was going out to make a round at the training center and saw this ride circling the parking lot, trying to find a safe place to land.

He was a retiree, so long gone from work here at this site I'd never seen him before. I introduced myself to him, he did not introduce himself to me.

Said he's built 8 of these in his retirement, that's what he does. This one has 15K miles on it including a vacation to Nevada or somewhere. He drives it.

Electric seats, air conditioning. All the stuff.
