This Harbor Freight grinder was given as a Christmas present to me by someone looking to get the most for their gift-giving dollar, and who didn't know I already have pricier Makitas ranging from 20 years old to nearly-new. Despite a switch that barely works I kept it as an extra and it probably has a couple minutes' use on it. By my figuring, at 10K rpm the pieces of the shattered backing pad would have left the tool at about 40mph...one flew to the right of me, one to the left, and one ricocheted off the far wall and I haven't come across it yet. Because I consider dropping gifts (even cheapo ones) directly into the trash to be bad karma, I guess I'll just stick it into the back of the grinder drawer for...whatever.
Tru-Value also sells plastic backing pads that do this, it's not like HF has the exclusive on crap/dangerous tools.

I'd say, to start with compare the amount of area there is in the four holes in the carburetor if you look down it, and the amount of open space total there is in what appears to be a boat air cleaner for a 4 or 6 cylinder, and make some adjustment topside. But, you know, nobody likes those guys who happen along and give advice...
Edit: There must be more. The PCV inlet plumbed to the carb?Last edited by Loren; June 9, 2018, 08:35 PM....

It's that stupid air cleaner, it's a big block and was being choked not only
by that but the scoop on the hood.
The hole in the hood was just big enough for the air cleaner and with the hood insulation
still in place that little air cleaner was closed off around it´s circumference too.
I was dying to make a comment, helpful of course, but they were basically playing to the crowd
fiddling and diddling.
