Been in the facebook veteran groups for some time.
I am realizing so much gets forgotten due to how busy we stay.. and the egos of young officers who think they are gods gift of brand new and there as been nothing like them.
forgetting the past is a must for those egos.
uss hickox
anyway... found this ship by chance. its whole life is war.
it sailed around the world.
saw action in ww2, and gimped home under the gate bridge in cali
then went to korea...
dismantled for scrap by 1989.
the number 673 gets my attention. anything military with that number I feel obligated to learn it.
it is by chance the veteran plate the state gave me. being a low number is some kind of vanity request to some people.. but I did not ask for it.
if there is military history and that number.. I learn it just in case some old guy with a past asks some questions.
this ships crew would all be gone today or very old.
I also learned of the famous hill in korea.. 673. some medals of honor and history made with helicopters (it changed warfare forever).Last edited by Barry Donovan; February 21, 2020, 09:25 PM.Previously boxer3main
