  • White letters, Whitewalls or Blackwalls?

I prefer blackwalls on everything, no matter what kind of car or wheels.
I admit having white lettered tires on some stuff back in the day. Whitewalls have their place, but to me they look right in bias-ply form on period hot rods and fifties cars.

Blackwalls all the way. Low-key is better IMO.

The ONLY time white letters are ok, is if they are 'painted' on at the factory.

I don't even think it can be decided on the year.
Look at Jim's BB 55 and my Old Pharts 55
they don't have, nor do they need, the same tires
but they both stand on their own and look correct
                    IMHO

Re: White letters, Whitewalls or Blackwalls?

totall depends on the vehicle - thanks for adding that option.

For example - on our bone stock 54 belair sedan - it would look way wrong with blackwalls or raised whites - some purists complain that I only have the "modern" white wall, not the huge white wall - but, I wanted radials and didn't have a lot of cash - so, I got "dominators" from belle tire, done.

For a muscle car era vehicle, I'd say white letters just look right - BFG T/A's in particular - they're just what looks great for that restoration / factory muscle / street / strip look... IMHO.

Blackwalls on just about everything else - for example - I do NOT have the time to be cleaning white letters on my truck, or my daily driver - hell, it's a miracle if I have time to wash them a few times a year - scrubbing tires with wesleys? aint happnin.
There's always something new to learn.

Predominantly black walls. In shorter side walls such as modern performance cars you couldn't read it anyway. Now on all my wifes Astro vans I have the white letters turned out so it won't look so bus like.
