To me he was a better guitar player than comedian, but he was good at both. I believe he got his start on national scene on the old Smothers Brothers show, as did some other great guitar players.
I just might have to watch Smokey and the Bandit as my tribute.
He was a guifted guitar player for years before he made the big time, and it was on the Glen Campbell hour...he did a couple of songs for Elvis pretty early on.....and please don't tell me he didn't drive the truck...
