For doing mechanical work.I bought an angle grinder from HF 6 months ago,and it's become more versitile than almost anything I have.

Maybe not the most versitile thing... but it's what I find in my hand more then anything... how bout a 6" vernier caliper... There is a digital one in there.. but I grab this old Brown & Sharp that My great Grand dad left me... I am constantly measuring something with it...

Leatherman Core. I do almost 70% of my wiring work with it.Editor-at-Large at...well, here, of course!

I'd have to say my hoist. I ALWAYS work on it. Even a simple tune-up is easier when the car is at waist height, even though I'm only 5'6". If I can POSSIBLY avoid it, I don't even do an oil change on the floor anymore.
