I dig them, and had one once. Lots of memories of my dad's that he sold when I was about 8 and I was MAD. But I think the Wayfarer is a cooler body style. So I'm torn.
Ford.
dumped in front, steelies, flat-head...hard to beat.
I've got a friend that runs one without a hood to show his SBC/Tri-power. Drives it everywhere with a lock-up converter, and runs 12s in the quarter.
I'd take a Ford over the Wayfarer every time...and I'm typically not a Ford fan.
'46 Ford. Recycle the Nailhead from the '59 Wagon with a 60-63 Dynoflow or get a GOOD adapter and run a TH200-4R behind it then put it on some vintage style Caddy or Olds wheels and Ford 8.8 just for conviencence sake.

Both cars leave something to be desired when it comes to their fronts, but the Dodge has a 'way-better' roofline IMO.
Whatever the choice of car, either one would benefit from a roots blower and scoop sticking through the hood.
