They can cut production all they want, but if we're all too broke to buy the stuff, it won't matter how much they chop it.

I think we've got a ways to go before the price bottoms out, especially with the banks on all continents hitting the skids.

                  Re: The Price Of Gas

I'm with you, Brian. I predict gas will be well below $2.00 a gallon within a year, and that by New Year's we may see oil below $60 a barrel. Right now everyone is focused on Wall Street, but shortly the heat is gonna turn towards oil as a major factor is the economic downturn.

                    Re: The Price Of Gas

I think you guys are starting to hit the nail on the head. Gas is going to keep going down. No one really cares about the price right now, cause the market is sucking to no end. Everyone is trying to save the little money they have left and that might mean not going out to eat every night or going shopping at the mall. That means they are driving a lot less since they are staying at home. So demand is going way down and price is going down. It wont level off until closer to $2.00-2.50 a gallon.

                      Re: The Price Of Gas

It's dropping big time here in OKC area. 2.29 gal. at a few spots and 2.39 at the 7-11's. Thats for 87 octane E-10. I gave 2.59 for 100% gas at the Shell station.

Don't you just feel like we have been played for so long, that even $2.00 a gallon sounds good. That lightening and Thunder you see/hear is, the Oil companies openning up there Wallets. Now they know we will pay the high prices when ever they need another fix.

I don't think gas prices will stay this way forever, but it sure has been nice filling up for 40 bucks instead of 60-70!

Do the fluctuations of gas prices go with vacation times ?
I seem to recall they were high around August in 2007 as well.
