nice, that resembles the one we have on the car now.....we do plan on cruising around town, and not just racing the car, thats why he was leaning towards the Pro-charger, even though I love the look the blowers have sticking out of the hoods, they are a bit intimidating to your local punks in Ricers.......haaa

Procharger...much more efficent, and you can intercool it easily. Don't get the procharger intercooler however, its pretty small and won't flow enough air for the larger superchargers.

which inter cooler do you recommend? I have been told this 406 should do fine with just an f-1 or f-2 procharger.

We have about 20 different intercoolers, air to air intercoolers that will support up to 1500hp and air to water intercoolers that will support 2400hp. If you are running an F1 or F2 our intercoolers will work just fine.
There is a lot of good info at procharger.com
or feel free to give me a call
          thanks,

The intercooler that we went to was a custom air/air one with a spearco core.

We were loosing 4.5 psi accross the procharger intercooler for this application - a C4 corvette with a F1 Procharger. Picked up almost 100whp with the custom cooler because it picked up 4psi and cooled more efficently. The car actually ran faster without an intercooler, than with the procharger one. The supercharger was great, but the intercooler was way too small and restrictive.

which intercooler? isn't pressure drop a RESULT of cooling efficiency? more details please.

We have a lot of different intercoolers. You need to make sure you have the correct intercooler for your application. Our C4 Vette system comes with a 2 core intercooler that works great on a stock Corvette with a P1SC, but its WAY too small for a F series supercharger.

Pressure drop from cooling efficiency can't be avoided (its a good thing ;)). However, you also have air flow through a core. If the core is too small, or the passages are too restrictive, you introduce turbulence and create additional pressure drop. It is not related to temperature, as in gas-law problems, but a flow restriction as in a fluid system.

Any centrifugal blower (turbo or supercharger) will always be more efficient (Less heat and less parasitic losses) than a positive displacement ROOTS blower. So its a choice between the best technical solution or the best sight and sound ;D Only your can decide!

It was a little two core that came with the supercharger kit. If that is the wrong cooler, then I think someone spec'd the wrong cooler for the application. It was bought through a local speed shop who spec'd everything for him. I just helped install it. It was a stroker 383 with AFR heads and a F1 on it.

There was a pressure loss of 4.5psi accross the cooler (there was 4.5psi greater pressure in the inlet than the outlet - it was a big cork in the system, just couldn't get the air through it fast enough) and after going to the much larger custom spearco, there was only about 0.5psi pressure loss. The much larger intercooler was also much more efficent at cooling since it had something like 4 times the surface area and was a more efficently designed core.

Yeah, It sounds like we (ProCharger, or the dealer that sold the system) should have thought about that before it went out that way, if it was originally orderd with an F1 head unit.
If a dealer calls us and wants a C4 Vette system but with a F1 head unit I imagine that is probably how you would get it.
