Re: So, you think you can shift?
That's pretty cool. That just seems like it would tear some tranny parts up... does it?
I've never had a stick that I could shift fast like that. Pick-up trucks aren't known for that... though I thought I was pretty good with my '92 Silverado. Heh. It was a regular cab, short bed, 350, 5spd, 2 wheel drive... apparently a rare combo. I could do the 1-2 shift like nobody's business... using the clutch, of course. That was a cool truck.

Not sayin' I'm gifted like the late Ronnie Sox, but I can definitely hold my own.
My stepfather is a bangshifting fool....violence guaranteed! How his GTO lived past him is a mystery.
clutchless shifts are an everyday thing for me.....but no bangshifting a 10, 13 or 18 speed.....does bad things and you look like a goof.

Re: So, you think you can shift?
That guy is definitely quick - I noticed he did shift early into 4th - before the shiftlight - then he ran 4th into the lights higher than the shift rpm.
That thing is dialed in pretty damned good.
I could not launch my 5.0 at 6k like he did and not get tire spin - he must have a good suspension and good tires.
His gearing and tire height is spot on too - he used all of 4th gear into the lights.... nice combo. There's always something new to learn.

Re: So, you think you can shift?
I miss my old Muncie. I could pound on it and it shifted so easily and smooth. Sometimes I would matt the gas and just punch the clutch, slamming through the gears. I got a taste of it again driving my buddy's 67 El Camino with a M22. My Impy's tranny is tough to shift 1st to 2nd with any real speed, though 2nd to 3rd is easy to punch.BS'er formally known as Rebeldryver

Re: So, you think you can shift?
One of the guys I work with used to always be out street racing, and wanted to find me real bad. He thought my Falcon was an automatic because he heard me going through the gears a few times. He didn't find out it was a 4 speed until we started working together.
Other people have told me they never saw anything like it when they rode in it too. So, I'm not easily impressed when it comes to shifting gears. I can hold my own.
