  • My $900 95 SHO

Looks like my thread about purchasing the 95 Taurus SHO for cheap didn't make it over on the transfer. Anyhoo, here are a few pics the previous owner had shot:

It has a few small electrical issues (door ajar light, wipers not parking, master door lock control inop), and will need a bit of brake work and probably a rear strut mount. But for $900 I think I did OK. It's a 95 5-speed, last of that generation of Taurus, still had the 220 hp 7000+ rpm 3.0L V6 by Yamaha.

    cheers

Nearly every one of those cars I have ever seen is green.
That hunter green color was slathered on like 90% of all cars made in the mid to late 1990's.

Neat car, the 5 speed makes it.

            Mine was a black 91, my bro's a maroon 90.

Those cars are quick, make great highway flyers.

Decidedly much cooler than the base-model '91 that my wife had when we first met.......that thing was 10 shades of horrible.

I'm with Brian...most of the SHO's I've seen of that style are Hunter Green, tan interior. The 5-speed is a must.

I take it the V-8 SHO's were not as good?

no, they weighed in about 700lbs heavier,
were not available w/ a stick, and only made
250hp. While the engine looked cool as hell,
                it just didn't run well.

Did those use the yamaha engines too?

Yes. But they had more involvment in the heads and intake,
rather than the whole engine, in both cases.

OH, OH, Me, Me, I'll do it, I'll do it. ;D I have experience in doing burn outs in that car. Hell I was able to roast them all the way through second. Needless to say you have to start at a dead stop hit the gas and put the car on the limiter and then side-step the clutch. And you won't only roast the hell out of the tires, but you'll roast the hell out he clutch to. ;D

                        Good times, Good times.

                            Re: My $900 95 SHO

Ford made the aluminum bocks and Yamaha, like Bill said, concentrated on the heads and induction. The motor has the same bore and stroke as the Duratec V-6ers

It was a 3.4 liter V8 that was plagued with camshaft problems, like they broke camshafts.

It seems to qualify as a "seems like a good idea at the time" type thing.

Bring it to maxton. Then decide what you want to do.
