Re: What car are you working on NOW

Tonight I did some maintanence on the daily 98 Lumina LTZ (3800 powered). In fact I still smell like gas from changing the fuel filter. 110k miles and still going strong.

For the toys, I have an early Christmas present coming in the form of an MSD distributor, 6AL, coil and wires for the 80 Malibu. (383/TH350). I'd rather be installing them tomorrow than eating turkey with the inlaws.

    GM G-bodies, because I can't afford a 69 Camaro.

GM Holden wouldn't dare produce a FWD in a full size. Both Ford and Holden sell full-size models with the help of the V8Supercar series promoting their vehicles, and I don't think anyone would buy them at all if they went FWD.

Toyota produced and sold the Avalon (full size FWD) and it's now discontinued since 2005. We hated it ;D

I would never buy a FWD. period.

I rest my case. This is why I haven't bought a new GM car since '91. Wrong wheel drive BLOW$. And GM is failing in the US. HELLO, McFly(GM) are you listening? Build something that doesn't have the appeal of a Frigidaire. People are waiting. (Hint I need a TriShield on it or its a NOGO like the GTO.)

I also have a serpentine belt set up to install on the GS. A new distributor with electronic ignition under the cap and a couple of 200 4r transmissions I want to learn to rebuild. Big plans!

65 Chevy II 100 2 dr sedan. I've got a small journal 327 to go in it and I'm looking for a Muncie to put behind it. The rust is finally gone and the front end is done with poly bushings and bolt on disc brakes off a 69 Camaro.

(Of course there is a typo in my quote.. "GM Holden wouldn't dare produce a FWD in a full-size." but you obviously knew what I meant.. ;))

I am freshing up the interior of my '77 skylark. The plans of LS power, are on hold until the economy stabilizes. When it does, 6 liter LS engine, and overdrive.

Re: What car are you working on NOW

I'm working on my latest purchase, the 1968 Mustang GT. Originally a 390 car, it's still got an FE in it, but I'm not quite sure whether it's a 390 or a 428. The heads, the intake, the carbs, and the air cleaner are all 1963 427 low riser stuff. When I pull the pan to swap it for one that wasn't used to jack up the car, I'll see what I've got.

I'm just going through it, fixing little things that don't work, or are missing, or that I consider violations. There was no battery hold down, the gas tank wasn't screwed down, there's no shock tower brace, turn signals don't work. Stuff like that. There's some pretty crude looking home-made traction bars that need to go. I'm thinking about a set of Lakewoods, or Cal-Tracs. I think the braided fuel line looks out of place, so that's gotta go too.

When the '68 stuff is taken care of, I'll get back to my '69 Mach 1, 428 SCJ. Engine's rebuilt, sitting on the stand.
