Judging from the wedge in the top of the bore forming the combustion chamber, I'd guess a 348/409 Chevy. That is, however, a guess.

Don't think so, they had 6 head bolts. I'm going for MEL V8

yeah, the good old 430, or maybe a 462

Congrats :D.The right answer is MEL.Actually a Mercury 430 1959.

Took these pics,because i have never seen a V8 engine with the head surface in that angle to the bores.According to the owner,there was no need for a piston ring compressor.
