  • Automotive passion ( notice the lack of caps )

Please excuse any outbursts I have have from time to time, I take this stuff serious. Being a Mopar guy, when someone claims a great powerplant like the 426 Hemi is no good, and Slant Six engines are turds, those are pretty wide-spread sweeping statements that can't go on unnoticed. I realize there's a few know-it-alls on here, like any other board, but when it comes to the great Chrysler powerplants of yesteryear, hey let's have some respect. They earned their way into the Hall of Fame.

It's all good, we need to try and see other's point of view. Hemis ruled for so many years I just can't believe anyone would not accept that. Let's take the 1964 Daytona 500, what were the first five or so cars across the line? Yes, the Hemi. That was the start of it all.

Let it go....nobody said 426/slant sixers or Mopars are junk. I've been watching your posts, and frankly, your pretty abrasive. Just chill out and go with the flow and you will fit in in no time......relax, take it easy.

Where were you told that. I'd like to read the exchange that led up to that.

OK, let's just all agree on something, ask 1000 people off the street, in the malls, what a "HEMI" is, and ask questions like what a "RAT" is or a "SOHC" or a "MOUSE MOTOR" and I predict, by a rather wide margin, far and above more mainstreamers will know the HEMI is a famous car engine. I rest my case.

Yeah, polling the soccer moms shopping at the gap about engines is clearly the best way to settle this one.

I'll be stationed by the escalator with my clip board (and an orange julius).

                  Yikes.

Notoriety is not always a good thing.....Although I do agree that a 426 Hemi is an iconic engine.

I could give a crap what mainstreamers think of an engine....Would you ask people who don't know about cars what engine YOU should use?

                      BTW....Orange Julius is delicious. ;D

                            Now I do too!

It always hit me as weird that they even had other flavors. A Julius other than Orange flavor? That's UnAmerican.
