    Re: Must-see vintage drag pics.

Thanks for scanning that, Jim. I still have that print and note, plus Baskerville's note back that says "second best" with the shot of Wild Willie sideways by McClurg. I should have the two framed together.

BTW, that item in HRM prompted photographers Jere Alhadeff and Ron Lahr to make prints of the Jim Miles, crank-on-the ground photos available for sale. You can buy the, from our pal Dave Wallace II here:

Tell him we sent you. Lots of other good nostalgia drag images for sale there, too. Please support his efforts.

      Re: Must-see vintage drag pics.

Some real cool pics. of an old dragstrip just outside of Winnipeg Manitoba Canada can be found at these sites:

      It was called Keystone/Bison Dragways]

Abandoned when an oil pipeline came through the area back in '77.
They cut a swath right through the track!!
Some real big rollers launched through the traps at this strip.
Including the caravans from Ford and Chrysler.
      Check it out.

Way cool stuff. Note the Roth-esque hand-painted shirt on the guy in the tower at the top of the first page.

Racer Erica Dyck has an unfortunate name, no matter how you pronounce it.

Just can't get enough of those old drag pics!!! Here's one of Jim Dunn getting started.... Took it at BeeLine Dragway (Phoenix) in 1971. Back in the good old daus when you could get close without a $2000 media pass

Ok, can't help i, here's one more from the same meet... Just because this is old time racing at it's best. Even The Snake has to work in the dirt.... No semis, just a 24' tag trailer, and a lot of junk food meals. $3 admission was too high, so I knew where to sneak in.....

Thanks for posting the link. What a bunch of really cool pictures. Those factory backed altered wheel base cars were amazing. Noticed a few Gremlins in there too! Those for you DF? Even a few Studebakers will wonders ever cease. Thanks again for posting this.

It was really slow at the dealership yesterday, so I spent at least an hour going through all 60 pages of that thread. Yowsa, there are some kick-ass cars in action in those shots.

                      cheers

Just got back from Keystone Bison. Great trip back in time.
