  • Corvair Fans?

    We've got a 1966 Monza (110-hp 4-speed) w/52K miles,
currently getting an instrumental panel replaced w/one
from a 1966 Corvair Corsa (the turbo-charged 180-hp engine model).

Quite possibly one of the best-looking & functional of any dash of the 1960s.

We love driving it, and every time we stop for gas we're
deluged with questions & "puzzled" stares. --

Any other "Car-Junkies" with Corvairs, Corvair projects or Corvair stories & pics?

    TIA!! ---------------

    Re: Corvair Fans?

There's a guy on here named vaporloc who's up to six now. Here's the thread he posted when he got his last couple:

    I'd say he's a fan. ;D

      I'd say I'm a fan, I've got a 65 midengine vair with a 283.

I used to have a '66 Corsa with a 140-style motor. I was running a megasquirt efi setup for a little while, slant tube heads, and my own custom intake manifold. Before I sold it I put back on a set of regular 140 heads and a 4 barrel intake w/an old Carter AFB carb. I lost most of my old Corvair pics when my old computer died, but here's a couple of pics of the car before I sold it.

That's a super nice 'vair. I like the colors and the wheels. Where were you stationed when you sold that? I noticed the DOD sticker.

Thanks for the compliments. The wheels are Boyd Coddingtons.

San Diego. The guy who bought it still lives here. I think he's in the Mission Bay area.

Could have been one of America's best sports cars. Got screwed over by politics.

When I was in HS in the early 70's, my buddy had a 66 turbo convert 'vair. Fun car after we replaced the frozen turbo. I wonder what it would be worth today ;D

Ever change a clutch in one? Not fun.

3 times. It got to be pretty easy. The key is to replace EVERYTHING the first time you've got the motor and transaxle separated.

I hope the car is not stored in the Mission area. Lots of salt air to rust out cars.
