    I've heard they open the valve to where they actually just barely tap the piston. Basically not enough to bend the valves, but enough to leave a faint mark on the tops of the piston. And your right it is in excess of an inch of valve lift. :o And probably in the 330's for duration. It also might depend on if it is a long or short track motor on how big the cam is or what LSA they use.
    The valve tickle isn't just a Pro Stock deal. Rev a legit Stocker a hundred too high in the water and it will dimple the pistons. I have several Stock Eliminator motors, and the one with the most passes has multiple added "eyebrows".

      we touch them too, and i can tell you, it's way to much maintaince. cause you will bend the valves....maybe not the first time, and maybe not all of them, but sooner or later they start bending. if you were to scater a lifter, it's all over.
      i put a thicker head gasket on #2,4,6,8, until i got different pistons, if you are touching 1,3,5, or 7 watch out.

          The new heads will be on the motor next year and no he never qualified the thing.

          The good news is that he's only off by a tenth or so. Combine those heads with a JATO rocket and he'll be running at the head of the pack.

                Camshafts are the only thing you won't see in a NASCAR teams trash can or for sale to lower rank racers like ALL other parts. Big secret shit there. But, unless I'm way behind in the gossip, Pro-Stock, at or near 1" at the valve. How's the spring like that?
