I was looking for the safest city in the U.S to live and wouldnt ya know it, its in Kansas......my husband is going to retire soon, and we were thinking of moving, but my memories of Kansas were us flying through the state, and out running tornado's, finally my husband who was to cheap to get us a hotel room, pulled the camper, which was on top of our pickup, into a truck stop, squeezed in between two big Semi trucks and made us sleep thier for the night......tornado's every where.....like a tornado isnt gona pick up a semi and throw it around, this was about 10 yrs ago, otherwise Kansas is nice ;D I hope you have basements there....

He is right.Most Hotels around here dont have basements. ;D Guess Im just used to them.For the devastation that Greensburg Ks went through and to have so few fatalities and injuries is due to being warned and going where you are supposed to go.I have dove into a ditch to avoid a tornado.I'll take my chances with a tornado over an earthquake,hurricane,widfire etc.

I have lived in Kansas for my whole life (30 years) and have yet to see a tornado.

Kansas here...

Only have seen 2 tornados. One of them put our neighbor's shed through our dining room window back in 1983.

we have been on kansas most of are life and have seen just on twister and it went threw are back yard. lucky for us are house was. ok but i can not say that for the ones a few doors down form us
