  • Rally Wheels In Aluminum

Wheel Vintiques has billet aluminum Rallys in sixteen-inch (and up) versions,

but that's just not me...would love to have a set of 15"s in just basic non-shiny

aluminum for the weight reduction...powdercoated in Rally silver.

Have always wondered why no one offers these. ???

Would you like a set ?

    Re: Rally Wheels In Aluminum

Rallys look out of place on most cars (I should know, I ran a set for years on my 55)....I can't really see any reason to pay a lot of money for them.

Although the old aluminum slots I have on my 55 now are way heavier than the Centerlines I had on it for a while.

      Year One/Paddock/Classic/NPW sell thousands
upon thousands of repro Rallys in steel for
around 100.00 each, so they are very popular.

      Making an aluminum, non-billet, non-polished
powdercoated Rally couldn't cost much more.

What it would cost kind of depends on how it's made, and weight would also depend on how it's made.

The thing about the slots and the centerlines...new cast aluminum wheels are about $100-200 each depending on style, new centerline autodrags are about $250 each, they're made by a special process having to do with rotary forging or something. The centerlines weigh a bunch less than cast aluminum or steel wheels...but cast aluminum wheels don't weigh much less than steel wheels.

I wonder why they sell so many repop rallys, when we have so many originals sitting around?

The used parts market has also been damaged

by the "BARRETT-JACKSON" effect. Prices here

for rusted, curbed, nicked used/originall Rallys

are more than nice fresh powdercoated repros.

(The "NCRS" syndrome also shares some blame.)

              Good idea!!

Just make sure you use the terms

              "Collector's Item!!"

              "General Motors Originals!!"

              "Authentic GM!!"

              "Discontinued!!"

              "No Longer Available!!"

              "Genuine OEM!!"

over & over throughout the ad to hypnotize the "sheeple".

I'd go for a set of stamped aluminum ralleys, that way I could keep the poverty caps and still have the lightweight of an aluminum rim. Somthing like the N67 (I think thats the SPID code anyway) aluminum B-body wheels.

Are there any stamped aluminum wheels that are similar in shape and still affordable? I just wonder how they'd be made....
