    Re: Buick Grand Nationals

    that was GM's excuse
the turbo took away too much heat to light the convertor
in 1987 GM invented the 5/50 powertrain warranty , maybe that was it too
and the G car went to the dumpster
you guys forget the 89-91 turbo grand prix and ste =yuck

      Re: Buick Grand Nationals

The NA 3.1 yacked headgaskets, I have no idea why they thought that putting a turbo on one was a good idea. In reality the L67 was the heir to the LC2's throne but it didn't roll out till 92 and is better known for powering Pontiac GTP's and Bonneville SSEi's than Buick's Regal GS, Riviera, and Park Avenue Ultra. I think what really killed the G-body was the total commitment to Coupe' body styles and the increasing popularity of the Ford Taurus and other FWD sedans. GM was going FWD and didn't have a transverse transaxle to take the power from a Turbo6 and keep the warantee and it was too much to retool it up. Even the later 4T65E isn't the worlds greatest for handling a mildly breathed on L67.
