    Vegas tips

    We are going to Las Vegas on the 30th for my 30th, and other than the Shelby museum we don't have much planned other than walking around and seeing the free stuff.

    Is there anything out there that would be cool to see? Any MUST DO things to do before you leave?

    Visit the Mob Museum. It's up in the old part of town, and interesting, to say the least........
    of course you can always see the TV show stuff, Kounts Kars, Pawn Stars, Restoration.........

      The wife and I have been there a couple of times and always have a good time. Last time we went we booked through vegas.com and got a free tour of Hoover Dam. HOLY CATS!!! Jaw dropping to say the least. Hit Fremont St. and the Shelby Museum. If they still let you sign the walls in the shop part look for a orange Pentastar with Jen & Steve by it. Be sure to watch the water show in front of the Belagio, some people think its a yawner but I can watch it for an hour. Lots of the casino's on Fremont St. have great drink and food deals, goofy stuff like deep fried oreos and stuff. Good times, so good that we'll be there again later this year and we don't gamble.

        The people watching in Las Vegas is absolutely freaking amazing. Not that I have ever been a little tipsy walking down the strip at like 3AM, but holy smokes the sights you will see that will make you laugh, cringe, hide your eyes, and just stare are unmatched anywhere else. If you are into food and want to splurge some on a dinner (hey, ya gotta!) I recommend the buffet at the Wynn. I once walked back to my table with a hunk of filet on top of a t-bone with a side of prime rib. I think it is about $50 a person but worth every penny.

          We are staying at circus circus. Not really our first choice, but we decided that we will be out walking and seeing the sights. So after reading the reviews we decided it is probably decent for the money. We plan on doing Fremont street and the water show. We also are going to walk through the casinos and do most of the free stuff.

            Its not a bad hotel...but dont walk around in your socks. The floors are disgusting in Circus Circus rooms..keep your shoes on...I'm not kidding.

          The good news is that you are a pretty zippy walk to the Wynn from Circus, Circus. Bonus points on the Wynn is the Ferrari dealer in the basement you can check out!

              there is a good Italian place there, it's really a neat restaraunt..the food is served family style, its really freaking good and the prices are reasonable..not like trying to eat on the strip. http://www.bucadibeppo.com/ . and other than people watching and free shows I dont much care for Vegas...

                There is a lot that is free just going up and down the strip. Almost every casino has some kind of hook to get you in. The warship battle at Treasure Island is fun to watch. Was better before they glitch it up. The roller coaster at NY, NY is fun and pretty tame, not free though. The best pizza in the world is there. If you think you can walk the strip you can't If you don't go by car rent one, it's not all that expensive, use valet parking cost you a buck when you pick the car up, ,atbe two if you won. It will still take more than a day. BE sure to go downtown for the light show one night. Brealfast buffet at Paris is one of our stops on almost every visit. If you can stay at the Winn. Other nice ones but Winn is nice. Stey away from Circus Circus unless you haave already been infected with evety knonw virsis by your own kids. If you rent a car you can go out to the race complex, probably something to see every day. Lots of well known auto sports have some sort of faculity out there so if you know anybody who knows somebody make arrangements to see whats out there. Gamble some but be careful it sucks you in and there's lots better ways to spend your money in Vegas. Oh eat at Morton's very pricey but very good. Have fun. My wife and I go at least twice a year and always enjoy it.

                  If you like outdoorsy stuff, a day or half-day trip to Red Rock Canyon should be on your list. About 16 mins outside of town, and usually about 15 degrees cooler!

                      Try out Casa de Amore on Tropicana if Italian food sounds good.

                        I just got in from Vegas early this morning. We visited a place called the Neon Boneyard. Its a small museum where all the old neon signs from old vegas go. Its a 1 hour guided tour at $25 per person but it was a good time (if you like neon lights). The guide gave a lot of vegas history about the signs and they are slowly restoring some of the signs but many of them are in poor condition but still fun to look at. Be sure and take the "night tour" as neon is not much fun to look at during the daytime!
                        Life is too short to drive boring cars!
