  • Looking for a new roller.......

OK, I've posted about Ma Nature "reclaiming" my '85 Z28....kinda has me down in the dumps.

Rather than wallow in self-pity, I'm taking a "can-do" approach to things.....I'm looking for a new vehicle to drop my engine/trans into.

I do like 3rd-gen F-bodies(this IS my 3rd one), but am over the aggravation/heartbreak with the evils of leaking t-tops they sem to do HORRIBLE things to floorpans/subframes.....would take another, but the T-tops re something I'm looking to avoid.

I'm on the lookout for CHEAP rollers.....S-10's, Malibus(wagons, too), Monte Carlos(SS and LS variants alike), Novas....by CHEAP, I mean like UNDER a grand($500 and less, may do more for something really interesting)you get the gist?

Paint isn't that important......solid frames/solid bodies that aren't beat to hell, however, ARE. Good glass, interior's don't have to be perfect...just as long as there's no water damage/smells like a transient.

    help a fellow junkie out.......

I vote Monte (non SS) as well.

2nd gen Camaro would be cool but they are fatties.

I vote for a Malibu Wagon...

Convert it to a two door using El Camino parts... Make it a late model Nomad...

Totally works for me... ( might actually have to do this one... someday)

as I like the 77-78 t/a nose, and these have the same style nose cone

A G cars rot out worse than f cars
frame rot and floor pans are murder
used LT1 f bodys are fairly reasonable

I know where a wagon is, come by tommorrow and we will go check it out. He said it would be cheap. No motoror trans but he will throw in a set of headers for a small block

The wagon is far more stylish than the other choices. Plus, if you start out with all it's utilitarian features, you wife will totally buy it.

I have multiple wagons. Trust me it works every time. ;D

Hmm.....as much as I'd like to tub the Z, funds just don't allow for it.

The 'bu wagon does have it's merits.........

At this point Jim, I have nothin' but time.....but would prefer to have something going on by mid-spring(be it a new roller, or the "parts fairy" to drop a back-half in my lap to tub the Camaro).

No one has said 2wd 1/2 ton 1980's GM truck yet.

If you can find one that's not been eaten by steel worms that would be cool too. A little drop action and you're in business.
