looks like some sort of "go-nogo" gauge.

Uhhh no, I don't think so. Look at the ends of it. It's precise. One end is wide, one's not as wide. It fits somewhere.

I think they used this tool to design this mining-crane structure in a WestGermany town called Herten...

A location which hosts a cool Mopar-meeting by the way, and where I had some fun on the local airstrip with my '60 NewYorker.

And this ALL made possible because of this tiny tool in the first post... AWESOME! :D :D

WOW, that sure does look the same, but no, that's not it. And what a beautiful bunch of classic rides. DAYum, but no, that's not it. I think only Stude can solve this mystery, but keep guessing...

LOL, I cant quote you becase the forum sucks in many ways now...But what you said above is exaclt what a go-nogo gauge is. So lets say yor lolerance between an actuator and a lever is .012 to .020. The gauge will be sized at in such a way that it when used will pass the "test" on one side and "fail" the test on the other. I have lots of these that look a bit like what you posted....My second guess is some sort of key, fits into something to turn it on or off.

I told y'all Stude could do it. I told y'all.

And not to keep dragging everybody through the ditch guessing about it, I'll come clean. The truth is, that thing came in the case with the Erlewine Lazer guitar and I've got no f***ing CLUE what it is for. I've held it against every part of that guitar, measuring, wondering, and it doesn't fit anywhere. So, thanks Stude! A screwdriver. Okay......I still don't know what to do with it.

                      spacer for a guitar saddle?

I am always cramming things into the cam sprocket on my sube. That would be one of them.

It's a Schaller screwdriver - note the S on it?
                        It's to adjust the bridge.

So now you have. And I wouldn't adjust the bridge if you held a gun to my head, it's perfect just like it is.

Thanks Stude, you stopped a fourteen-year headache, me wondering what that thing was.
