  • Distractions Outside of Vehilce More Deadly Than Cell Phone Usage, Report Says.

Distracted driving crashes injured 380 people during that time period and killed 10, according to DPS.

While cellphone use accounted for 127 of the distracted driving crashes, it was not the leading cause. Distractions outside the vehicle reportedly caused 255 crashes and reaching for objects caused 130.
So is all this talk about Cell Phone usage and driving really have any merit, when it's distractions outside the vehicle that cause most of the crashes.

It's all about the gov't harassing citizens and holding them up for money. Police can see if you are on a cell phone. Being distracted last only a moment, long enough to cause a crash, but way to short to be seem by law enforcement. By the way we no longer have police......they are now revenue agents.

Distractions OUTSIDE the vehicle? The stuff OUTSIDE of the vehicle is what you are suppose to be looking at while driving. I think it's idiots that can't keep their mind on one task, like driving. Are we now going to blame billboards or girls in short shorts for causing accidents? Diagnosed with ADD, no license. If you have attention deficit why would anyone think you could pay enough attention to such an important task as driving.

I will say when I was 16 we were cruising Central, a car in the lane next to me had a girl with nice legs sticking out the window, traffic in front of me went and as I passed the that car I yell nice legs at the girl and then promptly rear ended the truck in front of me. Same thing happened years later checking out a car at a car log I was driving by. The thing about cell phone usage is your just talking, but your sell watching the road.

could you please rephrase that: a little bit shorter? I was having a hard time paying attention towards the end.

BREAKING NEWS!!! Distracted driving of ANY kind more deadly than paying attention!

99% of the people on here can drive safely under any condition, than 99% of the sheep can drive at their best. Excepting drunk or drugged, I guess.

Don't confuse a mandate for the "other" 99% as anything more than a desperate need to reign in kids and soccer moms (and dads) that couldn't be safe in the best of circumstances.

Be as safe as you're able.
