As we first reported Automobile fired its editor and much of its staff, and its parent company Source Interlink axed other employees (and possibly magazines). We also learned that Source Interlink was becoming The Enthusiast Network, or TEN. We've now obtained a copy of what appears to be the newly renamed company's…

HMmmm, I wonder how that will affect the pile of Car Crafts that I haven't read yet.

To be clear, so far a pile is two but should be three within a week.

        name change.

they are too big to just disappear.
Shutting down is a friendly bankruptcy..
given the timeline of source interlink, the net must have been a big bomb for change anyway.

I wonder if this job still stands:

I think the company is changing names again. Rob Kinnan says it's called TEN.

From what I've gathered, they are consolidating a bunch of mags into their flag ship titles, it's the last ditch effort before closing the doors for good. I think Print is on it's way out, they are going Digital.

Ask HRM how their digital subscriptions are going. They are down to $5/yr. There was a lot of fat, overlapping genres.

Business 101. Old name has branding issues............leave the duds under the old name, create new hip name and move the profitable stuff there.

Then let old name go bankrupt.

The more things change, the more they stay the same.
Of all the paths you take in life - make sure a few of them are dirt.

That is EXACTLY what we did at work - if there were reputation problems or known issues with the structure of an organization, REORG! New name, new reputation, same old problems. They only had 3 ideas ever and they kept getting recycled with new names. Seemed to happen every time we got a new exec and they just had to "Increase Efficacies" as part of their three year plan. plus ça change, plus c'est la même chose

all of them were getting thin... Muscle Mustangs and Fast Fords used to be a BOOK! The days of 15 different Mustang / Camaro / Chevelle / Mopar niche rags are pretty much past. I learned more than I wanted to about what makes a magazine tick. Sometimes I wish I could go back to being young and naive.

Speedy is probably going abso-farking-lutely out of his skull typing a five page response to PHR being HRM now.

Freiburger seems to have gotten a healthy promotion again... on paper. I guess we'll see what happens when the smoke clears.
