  • Classic American Cars of Cuba-hdnet

Just happened on HDNET and theres a series on classic American iron
    in Cuba......it's on now.

Pretty cool stuff.....ALL pre 60's cars.
Parts and other stuff are hard to come by and they hand
    make lots of parts.

No brake fluid avaialble........so they make their own out shampoo
    and other oils.

    Check it out.....

In Drivers Education, in 1975, our teacher helpfully advised us that ATF, power steering fluid, AND brake fluid were all the same. When I produced evidence that he was wrong, I was told to sit down and shut up.

There was a documentary about all the cool old American cars in Cuba, I think it was called Yank Tanks but I don't remember. They used a lot of stuff to keep their cars on the road. Definitely Hot Rodders.

in florida , despite the warm weather , salt spray from the ocean was way corrosive , cars rotted out pretty bad there
I am sure a lot of those cuban tanks are nailed together pretty good
too bad nobody thought to preserve our history here , where all the cars were
