  • 68 camaro for $6000... good deal?

a good friend of mine will sell his 68 camaro to me for $6000. it has a 383/th350 combo it runs good but the carb should be freshened up. it has tubular front a-arms, ok interior but missing some small parts. the body has typical dings and a couple small dents, faded white paint, and it has NO RUST. the rear shock mounts need to be fixed, needs new springs and shocks but thats really it.

my question is: is it worth it to buy this car? i can afford it but money is a little tight right now and i might have to sleep in the car if i bring another project home for my wife to see. but i can take that chance.

i need some reassurances that this is a good deal, let me know what you guys think.

Sounds pretty good to me too. I would want more details, if I were buying it, but since you know the car, that's not a problem. I would look at it seriously if you are looking for one.

Hell,I say go for it. I bought my '68/Z-28(as a roller..)for $1500. Very little rust, other than the Primer & the Wheels(which I tossed..)those were the only 'mods' I found on the Car. Still has the Roger Penske Badge on the Light Panel. Car is 'an early production Car with an August '67 build date, and has the odd 'short' Spoiler. This thing is crying out for a Toyota-6-swap :o :o :D :D ;D ;D :. Just foolin',kids ;). ~J/W-OO6.

For reference, a friend of mine paid $10k for a '69 that amounted to a roller that needed floors. He bought it as a running, driving car that had dried cracked paint and a ratty interior. He sold the motor trans and rear for a thousand or so; at that point he was in the project $8-9k, and had not even started buying parts.
