    Is it legal

I realize there is not a lot of time spent or attention to production classes but changing the rockers on my truck to a crane full roller tip and double beehive springs should be okay? Of course no one but me would ever know. I don't know about now but years ago a record in a nhra stock class would bring lots of scrutany, aw heck serious checking, i don't like the spelling of that other word. The rocker change and an hp tuneup on the ls type motor in my ss truck is guranteed to dyno at around 40 hp. 5340 lbs. And the aerodynamics of a brick would 40 hp increase me from 127 mph at maxton to 130 mph at ohio?

Most lsr groups allow any internal engine mods you wish.
There are very few people in this world who's opinion I value, you are not one of them.

I have a 2010 and 2011 rule boook and the corners are dog earred througout, you'r right about internal modifications, sorry for a dumb question. Does anyone have an opinion as to whether 40 hp would increase the speed of a late model, 5300 lb. truck that ran 127 mph in oct. to 130 mph, any other suggestions to possibly pick up speed? 130 mph is another goal i have set for myself in my continuing recovery from some health problems. i have a couple of other cars that will run lot's faster but i don't want to install all the needed safety equipment and i like the idea of continuing to add hp to the truck. the GM family of ls type engines are unbelievable the way they respond to computor program tuneups improved breathing etc.

Getting any vehicle to 150 is pretty easy.
After that, it becomes progressively more difficult and expensive.
          But it is fun !!!

I would say a safe bet with a true 40 hp increase will net 2-6 mph increase (at these speeds) but this is just my s.w.a.g. I have never raced a truck and the frontal area and drag are a big deal in LSR. Tape and cardboard can be your best friend, but are not legal for Production. Can you unbolt the "cat back" to open up the exhaust? Depending on how much you are willing to spend lowering it may help as well as getting some skinny tires (reduce rolling resistance). Depending on your gear ratio, tire size, and rpm some times you can pick up a little buy changing tire diameter.

your are right about the frontal area the truck is an aerodynamic brick, but that is the challenge to continue to improve on the mph. The fourty hp. is guaranteed on the dyno and i am actually considering installing electric cutouts in front of the cats, the oxygen sensors will not present a problem. the truck came with 20"tires and wheels and would be very expensive for new, narrower wheels and tires but i did put 48 lbs. of air in the tires at one exit before the maxton airfield exit, hoping to narrow the contact patch. Sounds like i might be getting close to 130 mph. thanks garrell

The last time I ran the Celebrity I cut the exhaust right before the cat and ran it that way. Not sure how much I gained but maybe a little. When I got home I just slid a repair pipe over the cut and welded the whole deal back together - just like new. But I was trailering so that might make a difference (I didn't have to drive there and home with a noisy car).
