hells yeah! Maybe 15 from Dad's deal. He's on the bayfront down the road from Stomps... I'd hate to store a car there though. Anything on the bay turns to rustball in 5 years or less if it doesn't get stolen. I don't know how much longer that is gonna stay there, the taxes are insane. He's got another lot a couple of blocks from the bay.
That'd be awesome though, only a few hours from location X. It would make the 84 T-bird sitting in the yard have something to do!! Do you know if they are joining anyone's existing organization / sanctioning body or if it's going to be a new org?Flying south, with a flock of bird dogs.Comment

I'd suggest they contact either the ECTA or the SCTA. As I understand it the Texas Mile folks are bit lax in both safety and record-keeping. Still, I'll want to go to this new track. Will this replace the Texas Mile or be in addition to it?

like to know more. Length of shutdown, etc. Also interesting that Texas Mile safety record record is better than ECTA. I have run both groups quite a bit. in 200 club at both. not condoning any safety programs though.Comment

keep us posted! Looked like the long runway was over 8000...
How much space does it take to shut down from say 225mph in a mile? Maybe one of the Dan's or the Joe's or the illusive Keith ghost can fill us in on the requirements.

Ohio has 3/4 mile and is adequate (or so the 200+ guys tell me - how would I know??!!). More would be better, for sure.
Finding an acceptable LSR venue is difficult. You need 1 3/4 or more in length and enough width to be safe, no ditches on the sides (room for spin-outs when they happen), room for pits, etc, and a municipality that is willing to work with the racing organization. And I'm sure that's just the tip of the iceberg.

The location is pretty good - mostly industrial IIRC. Pretty close to the port of Houston, it's not like any extra noise is really gonna get noticed. I hope this works out, I would be ALL OVER IT. Seriously 20 minutes from where my grandmother's house is.Flying south, with a flock of bird dogs.Comment

10,000 feet makes me happy! 8000 is doable but you really have to get the chute out at the finish line.Comment
