    Lengthening short throttle cable

I'm finishing up a engine swap in the trans am. The cable to the carb was too short before by about a half inch and being the red neck that I am I made a oval shaped link out of some stiff coat hanger and called it a day.Never had any fear of it breaking or anything, But in the future I plan on running it out at wilmington. I really want to pass tech without any drama (scrambling). Would this be legal. The reason I'm asking is I cannot find a longer one for a third gen camaro/firebird . Or is there an offset ball socket for the linkage . I need a quarter inch.

I often whip up a little link to "stretch" the cable. I did that on the Camaro and all was well. I used a piece of square tubing and cut a "U" out of it - worked fine. I needed about 1" IIRC. Where does "Bubba" stop and "innovation" begin?

    Hope that helps.

Thanks Dan, I truly hoped you would respond. I almost simply P,M.ed you, but I had faith you'd find it here. I have been searching the internet in the mean time since posting my question. It has given me some ideas as to how to make a more proper looking extender. Thanks for your idea also. Took me a little thinking on how it looked and worked but then I figured it out. Thanks again.

if it's a well constructed loop that won't prevent the throttle from closing and doesn't have the obvious two strands and a barb sticking out of it... hehe. I would be more concerned about the throttle closing than if it didn't open if I were a tech guy. .02

now where is my board stretcher? I cut it twice, and it's still too short.

Yeah that's what I would think too. Main thing it has a double return spring.
