Well I have the week off work and mom is going to help JP with the kids. I am very far down on the waiting list. If possible I will be there. I think it will be fun. I am looking forward to hanging out with car guys all week, if I am lucky I can find someone there to give me some pointers on chassis tuning.

Been working on the trailer mostly the last few days. The electric fan is not critical path so it's install will probably be post (during?) dw.
Wanted to ask the electrical guys like silver_bullet about hooking up a Volvo fan with two speed relay and fuses on the left, 4.6 tbird fan on the right for size comparison. The volvo fan has 30a fuse low and 35 am high between control relay and motor. Does the relay input need to be (fused) sized correctly or would I be ok hooking it up the the alternator side of the 175a mega fuse.
Do you all think it will keep a stock 5.0 cool?Last edited by Russell; September 1, 2018, 07:08 AM.

Dragweek! Got rained out on Monday. In Atlanta. The drive to Darlington was not too bad. Missed a few turns on the route but got turned around and made it. Made 4 passes at Darlington track was hooking (they all were all week) 13.78 @ 98.08!
WE got to take any way we wanted to get to zMAX. The route went towards the storm. Only made 2 passes. First was a tick better than the day before 13.74 @ 98.05 2nd I missed third. Packed it up headed to Bristol, this was a find you own way day car did fine in the hills. Car was slower I blamed it on the elevation. Pulled spare tire jack and fan (100 lbs) and was able to get it in the 13's (.97) @93.67. The route back to Atlanta was almost the direct route so i didn't get lost which was nice. My first time down the Atlanta 2nd gear was a no show pulled around got back in line and got all the gears and got a 14.01 @ 95.96 I really wanted a 13 but I was hot the cat was hot so I turned in my slip and packed up.
I took most everything I own with me and changed all four tires each day. Which was a pain. But I didn't need any of it so I was glad to have it.
pictures tomorrow...

Did you do it solo!? It's tough to navigate and drive! What was your favorite part of DW?Life is short. Be a do'er and not a shoulda done'er.

Yes did it solo, I wouldn't recommend it. Dad came down to Charlotte on Wed to hag out and watch me run it was great to spend the day with him.
most of my 60' were in the low 1.8's high 1.7's. Had a best of 1.76! Week average was 13.88 @ 96.44! I thought the old volvo engine (stock 5.0 from TB to oil pan) did great at full weight (spare tire etc) with me it's over 3300 lbs. Pulled stuff to try to make it faster as the times got slower.
I didn't do a good job of writing stuff down. I know it was down to 3225 one time.

That's a cool trailer! Changing all 4 tires every day by yourself seems like work! Congrats on finishing and wear that windshield banner with pride! It's a badge of honor!
Now you need a turbo.

My favorite part is making passes, very nice tracks, well prepared. I enjoy seeing the cars, talking to the people. I enjoy the drives between, wish their were less turns easier to find and I would be fine if it was 500 to 1000 miles for the week. Seeing Pat Musi shop was cool. Things I didn't enjoy were changing tires, unloading loading the trailer, trying to make u-turns in a car with a spool pulling a trailer that doesn't back well.

Finished up the electric fan install. I cut down the shroud and added some tabs to bolt it in the stock location, and mounted the over flow tank near the stock location on a volvo fan. I kept the stock relay and fuses. It was pretty easy to wire. Power, ground and switched ground to turn it on. When I replaced the head light switch I got one with fog lights. I don't have fog lights so I used it to turn on the fan. The extra load did seem to pull on the alternator so I swapped the race crank pulley for the stock one and put the race crank back on the shelf.

Put the DRs and skinnies on changed the oil and put the stock alternator pulley back on the 3G. Had an over drive on it when I was running the race crank.
I think the electric fan will save more HP than the race crank pulley. Planning on taking it to the 1/4 Sunday afternoon to find out!

Got there and back in one piece. Made 6 passes have to go back and look but I think it's a new PB by a few hundredths.
1.78, 8.67 @ 77.69, 13.70 @ 97.70
All in a good day at the track!
