    • I have heard of automatics coming out of the case. Didn't know it was a thing with manuals?

      • I was kidding.. sort of... You've heard 3rd gear rattling in a T5? Sounds like it's going to come through the floor at you.

Nope, still rocking the same T5 sense 2004 ish? When it was in the 89 I took it to get the front end aligned. The guy test drove it and said "I couldn't get it in gear". My Dad's response was "my son races that thing" I say "your not riping it hard enough". It's been on borrowed time for over a decade.

I have a spare on the bench (was the one I had in the Capri) but second gear synchro
is pretty chewed up. I was playing with it last year when I put the top cover on I don't think I got the forks correct it's locked up now need to open it back up and try again.

          • Is that the moment where you tell him "That's because you were granny shifting instead of double clutching like you should" and then try and keep a straight face?

            • Lovely T5 noises!.

Even with our low power foray into turbos and 5 speeds we discovered that we would likely be waaaaay quicker and waaaaay more consistent with an automatic. Particularly in the first 100 feet of track.
Life is short. Be a do'er and not a shoulda done'er.

Not sure how it will work after the turbo but the clutch tamer and two step make me look like better than I am. Last time at the track Four passes 60's had .055 separation. 1/8th had .025 separation. For a hack I call that consistent! Real bracket racers would say I have a ways to go.

                • I did some horse trading and got some well used DeWalt 18v tools, including a reciprocating saw, the batteries are no good so I ordered some of the 20v batteries and adapter. Hopefully it will make jy trips easier.

I bought some used deka 60 lb injectors. I was going to get new 80 or 100s but these had just be cleaned and flowed. They may need upgrading some day but they should get me most of the way there.

                  • I am finding myself buying parts not needed for the turbo install. Not sure to blame it on aadd or covid? For some reason I have picked up a ported HO lower and have B303 cam on the way. Now the B cam will add 10 horse power just by putting in the trunk.

Do I take the time to install the NA parts or not needed the turbo will split it on its on, waste of good gaskets .

                    • Tmoss ported lower? It will flow a lot more even is the biggest reason I can think of to do that. I'm gonna go with Richard Holdener on this one... make as much HP as you can NA and then add boost!l

                      /edit - how could I forget?

BEECAM!! oh man, that block is trembling in it's presence already!

                      • It was used on the Corral. The porter was unknown. It was sold as "could be Tmoss ported". Most of the ports have been welded.

I am going to order fuel pressure sensor, get it in. Then install my 60# injectors get them going. I ordered the wrong map sensor I sent it back hopefully will get the correct one next week.

At some point I need to get a new fuel pump. As long as the pressure is good I might wait until I decide if I am going to relocate the battery. I want to run a new power wire from the battery to the pump.

                        • Define “car”.... in the sense of “project car”. It would be incomplete and have extra parts at the same time simply by definition, and yet may not even be titled.

Parts is for a car not yet purchased makes for a very difficult existential discussion I am thinking.
Of all the paths you take in life - make sure a few of them are dirt.

Its not a very active project if there are not extra parts

I bought a stock cam one time just because it was cheap. I am a sucker for free parts. I am pretty good about not buying parts for cars I don't own. The ported intake might not have been a wise purchase. I have an explorer intake that might be just as good, or better with some clean up.

I do have to get that turd off my trailer. Who wants a Camaro?

                            • if you're collecting EFI intakes - I have an edelbrock, with a phenolic spacer to go between the upper and lower, not sure I'll ever use it... came with a pile of SBF parts I couldn't pass up.

Your not helping I think I can say no, but how much shipped to 27591?

I was looking under the hood. From what it looks like the GT45 will be a tight fit. Is there another smaller sized turbo that will work well for a little more money but be easier to fit?
