Tonight instead of working on the car I went an picked up a trunk lid. It's a little ruff but good enough for a street strip car. I am not a big fan of wings on a 9 second car (1/8 mile) I am not sure if I can match the purple paint. I really don't like paint that is close but off a few shades. I have a few flat hoods, one is the same red! I could put them on as is and be really tacky or I thought about semi gloss black for the hood and trunk
What would you do?

I hear ya, but I am very sceptical that the paint will match. It might not be to bad with it being the flat hood and trunk. I guess if I don't like it I can always paint it black.
The front clip on my Lincoln has been repainted most of the time it's not that noticeable, but when the sun is bright I can tell the fenders don't match the doors.
Body work will come after its driving again and I finish putting the interior back in. This is just "temporary" if I keep the car long term I want to paint it all gloss black.Last edited by Russell; June 28, 2017, 02:07 PM.

Sounds like rusty splines. But knowing you Russell, that isnt the case. More likely you greased the splines and they are pulling a suction which is fighting you sliding it off.
Of all the paths you take in life - make sure a few of them are dirt.

Far as I know the only thing in that trans is atf, and lucus atf fix.
Also you can feel a dip in the middle and it's not even all the way around the yoke

I looked at the u joints far as I can tell it move freely and smooth without any extra play. The car had 240k give or take 10k miles. Should I replace the u joints while I am there or if it is not broke don't fix it?
