  • Adopt a Whale 1992 Oldsmobile Custom Cruiser

After searching coast to coast, scouring internet classifieds, I finally found one of the most rare wagons built of the 91-96 generation. A 1992 Oldsmobile Custom Cruiser with the LO5 350 TBI engine and the towing package. It's a pretty well optioned car, power everything, factory remote keyless entry, rear defrost, Cassette deck with equalizer and a build date of April 1992 so its a later one (when did they stop making them, June?). It came with a set of stock wheel covers, but this one sits on 9C1 steelies and 235/75 R15 tires.

Anyhow, enough of my babbling, here's some pics:

    How do I fix this?

Oh, its got a Sungate windshield too.

    Wheelcovers and an extra airbag

Dashboard, this isn't the radio pictured in the manual for the '92 OCC Late production issue? It also has the compass in the mirror.

thats cool, I didnt know they made an olds wagon in that era. I only have ever seen the caprice and roadmaster wagons
Hellinor- 2005 Mustang GT-Bolt ons, in need of a turbo

War Wagon- 1966 Bel Air Wagon-355 Crate motor, 700r4, flies pretty good for a brick...

A BBO - no inferior Chevrolet thing. Even better, a first-gen BBO! See NSA's thread.

Yup, its been cold here lately, too cold. The Olds wagons are rare compared to the Chevrolets and Buicks. 455 Olds has crossed my mind with a 4L80 to replace the 4L60.

I think it would be fun to get a half of a harpoon with maybe a magnet base and stick it on at shows and the like. Just for fun.

                  Thar she blows!

I did take it for a drive today, had to get some 4X8 plywood and with my utility trailer being covered in snow, Trailblazer being too short inside and 1 ton not operational, it was the only choice. Great ride, even with the HD suspension, not overly floaty at all like most B-Bodies. Lots of torque, easy acceleration, from 30-80 was quick and smooth and it cruises well at speed. These wagons are known to get 23+ mpg at 80 with the TBI and good aero. Needs cleaned, it may have an issue with the sender for the temp gauge since it looked a little low and heat was good, not overwhelming so it could be the thermostat going. Speakers are going bad, probably originals so I'll probably upgrade to a good set for SQ. I'd also love it if my power mirrors worked because with those tiny mirrors, its tricky to get them just right.

Clean it up, maintenance, small repairs, sway bar upgrades. Enjoy it.

Oh, got the title in my name today and ordered the plates.

I have the 92 Caprice wagon with 305 in it. Bone stock. Consistently recurring exhaust leak on passenger manifold. Had it shaved a couple months ago, but doing it again already Been too cold to mess with it right now, but will do so soon now that its warming up some. About 65K on it, but speedo is wonky, so not sure how accurate that really is.

My speedometer is off too, either a wrong VSS or its been regeared to 3.73. Part of me wants it to have been regeared, but more than likely its the VSS. I use a speedometer app on my phone that uses GPS to check the speed. If you can, check the SPID label in the right side of the tailgate frame and see what rear gears you have, mine came stock with 3.23 as part of the towing package. My 350 has been great for the maybe 200 miles I've drove it, it says under 111K on it now. Yesterday I put a new set of wiper blades on it and got batteries for the remote keyless entry fob, looks like I have to program that.
