depends on the track.

most likely with an automatic in that class - no...

I think I'm remembering the more strict things they look for on manual trans cars - blow proof bell and driveshaft loop where in the rules even in the more street oriented classes.

They shouldn't care about a driveshaft loop without slicks, or at that power level.

So it turns out that they don't care.... but here's some fun news.... Turns out Johnny and Billy Pilcher are testing tonight at Montgomery... So we don't have to take anything but the car... and they'll hook us up with the tools... ( if they are needed )

Turk, you just have to remember the course is 1/4 mile long. Not one mile, three miles, or five miles.

A loop is not required unless you are running slicks. Some tracks are starting to require them for drag radials because cars go so fast on them, but you will not need them.

You will need the following.

Double Throttle Return spring
Radiator catch can
Battery held firmly in place (stock GM is okay at your performance level)
Less than 12 inches of rubber fuel line, especially ahead of the firewall
20 lug nuts that engage the stud the equivalent of the thickness of the stud
neutral safety switch
seatbelts-these can be a factory belt at that speed and et
A helmet is only required if you are going over 100 mph. I've only made a handfull of passes without one, but you are not required if you don't exceed 100 in the 1/4
Your right foot
Your left foot


As a very wise friend of mine has told me on about a half dozen occasions....
Have fun, the throttle pedal works both ways, and this run isn't important enough to stay in it if something doesn't feel right. Oh, and when you stage the car, you envy no man.
