I'm currently trying to figure out how much wiring I need to get from inside the vehicle. I know I need the gas pedal and associated wiring and probably the scan tool connector and wiring. Before I started the deconstruct I noticed that the check engine light did not come on at all. When I connected the code reader it failed to read anything, in fact, it did not even turn on.

Any thoughts on what else I might need from behind the firewall would be appreciated.

Looks like aluminum heads and an iron block.

great way to get an engine.

I am still dabbling the one year before the LS stampede.
    the M code 305, and the others (96-99) 350, 454, (manual trans too nv4500, nv3500.)
simply engines for being all iron and injected obd2.

I remember checking up on an older 4.8 that triggered codes. I liked the all iron.
one little weep of coolant from plastic games, way over 200k miles.
Truck broke in half and fixed before engine never died.
I guessed the frame mishap was the coolant weep for more than 100k miles.
    incredible.

what is that 5.3 made out of?

That's how I got the engine and trans for Mutt. By the time I sold the hulks (1 for trans, 1 for engine) to PnP I didn't have much in it.

It's a 2003. It's a flex fuel 5.3 with a 4L60E and it's 2WD. It doesn't have a title but my buddy that works at a Chevy dealer says the title was branded (and warranty voided) in July of 2003 and that the title was listed as salvage in February of 2011. We are hoping to sell parts off of it to offset the purchase price. We got it for a song because of the no title thing and it ran great on the way home (about 20 miles). Probably starting the deconstruct this weekend.

I've been waffling on the trans/powertrain direction since we got this truck a year and a half ago. Last night we picked a direction. This came home last night:

I apparently forgot to mention the mirror upgrade. I scored some decent originals from the junk yard last year.

You didn't catch anything from that seat I hope.

The floor pans seem solid. We'll see what happens when the wire wheel hits them. Need to figure out what color carpet to get and order it. The seat brackets on the new seats are too tall so fabricating new ones is one of the next steps. I also have a call into my transmission guy to do a 700R4 to replace the leaky 350.

We were hoping to leave the carpet and just clean it up a bit but it was too far gone.

If we are matching "seat" width, you would certainly be correct. I will enjoy the 60/40 when I am a passenger. It is very tight in the Nova for me on the passenger side!
