for DDing, you will just drive it in a higher gear around town.
The Nova was my DD last year for a couple of months due to issues with the G5. Between the gas mileage difference (16 vs 33) and the upcharge for premium in the Nova it got quite expensive, relatively speaking. My daily commute (non apocalypse) is about 65 miles and 90% of that is at 70mph. I'm tuning to run 87 octane and hoping for 20mpg under normal driving. The 3.42s spin the motor about 11% faster than the 3.08s. So I could expect a 2mpg difference between the two sets. Assuming 10,000 miles a year and $3.00 a gallon that works out to be $167 in additional fuel costs for the 3.42s. That seems like it would be worth it. I think I'll order up the 3.42s.
This led me to look into the motor mounts a bit more. Turns out the adapters I bought work with clamshell mounts that have the bolt holes 3" from the mounting surface on the block. Mine were 2 1/2". This may explain why the motor mounts were so blown out when I took the motor out. Since I haven't spent enough on this money pit I ordered up a set of these which should fix the issue:
While I was at it I ordered the fan shroud for it as well. I bought the fans a while back and this is made specifically for them.
The big difference here is I don't want this one to be shiny at all. I'll probably spruce up the interior, but my plan is to leave the outside and underside alone from a finish perspective.

well sure, there is that.... but you seem to have forgotten the power of the incantation "while I'm at it" or "I'll be mad if I don't just do this one little thing"

Well I did just put a new gears and posi in a rear end that only "needed" a pinion yoke upgrade. See also the pages on the motor rebuild. If I give in to any more "while I'm at it" it may never see the road!
